Hurricane Melissa Appeal

The British Province is ready to support recovery efforts unfold has launched this Hurricane Melissa Appeal to provide both immediate relief and longer-term support through partners including the Jamaican Province of the Moravian Church. Funds will go directly to trusted partners on the ground to ensure that help reaches those most affected.

All funds raised through this campaign will be sent through the Jamaican Province and trusted partners to provide support to those impacted by Hurricane Melissa.

We invite congregations and individuals to give, to pray, and to share hope in this time of need.

Gracious and ever-present God,
You are our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble.

We lift before you our brothers and sisters in Jamaica, Cuba, 
and all who dwell upon the islands,
as Hurricane Melissa bears down upon them.
Be their shelter in the storm,
their calm amid the wind and waves.

Grant protection to those in danger,
wisdom to those who lead and serve,
and courage to those who bring relief and comfort.
Where homes are damaged, bring swift repair.
Where hearts are fearful, bring peace.
Where communities are shaken, bind them together in love.

We remember congregations of our Moravian family—
pastors, elders, and members—
that they may be steadfast in faith,
servants of hope, and witnesses to your enduring care.

As we hold them in prayer,
remind us that we belong to one Lord, one faith, one baptism,
bound together by your Spirit across oceans and nations.

In the name of Jesus Christ,
who stilled the storm and speaks peace to all creation,
