Moravian Womens' Association (MWA)
This organisation aims to unite women of all ages in the Province in closer fellowship with one another and in the wider service of God.
The membership meets on a monthly basis in local groups called Circles. The groups share and discuss a common devotional paper and news from around the world and have an opportunity to socialise with each other. Each year the membership raises money for Moravian and non-Moravian projects and charities in an effort to look beyond the confines of our own communities to the wider needs of the world.
The whole membership has the opportunity to meet once a year in the Spring at our MWA Day. This day is a chance to share fellowship, worship and participate in a variety of workshops. These events are usually hosted by the members of the MWA in their congregations or Circles. A retreat is usually held once a year giving members an opportunity to really deepen their faith.
All women, young and old are warmly invited to attend Circle meetings and the annual MWA Day. Women can also join as Associate members and receive an edited version of the papers through the post.
Every month we publish discussional papers.

Dear Sister
I pray that this letter meets you in good health.
It is our turn this year to host the MWA Retreat. The Central Committee have now booked 12 places at The Hayes Conference in Swanwick. We are using the Hayes Conference Centre again as they can accommodate our small group, and it is easily accessible to all.
The Retreat will be held at the Hayes Conference Centre, Hayes Lane, Swanwick, Alfreton DE55 1AU. Telephone number 01773 52600 from Friday 5th September 4 pm to Sunday 7th September 2025 3 pm.
Our Facilitator this year will be the Rev Melanie Smith an ordained URC minister. Melanie is the wife of Rev Mark Meacher, the Minister at Hall Green. Melanie and Mark have recently returned to the UK from serving in Fiji.
The cost of the weekend will be £275. The terms and conditions of the centre have changed and to secure the places we had to pay 50% of the overall cost and the final payment must be made at the beginning of August. To book your place please download this letter and complete the tear-off slip with a non-refundable deposit of £135.50 and forward to Sr Gillian Taylor at the address on the tear-off slip by the 31st May 2023 and the final payment by the 31st July 2025. You may wish to cover your weekend with travel insurance, as the payments made are non-refundable.
Please make all cheques payable to the MWA or Moravian Women’s Association and not to Sr Gillian. You may also wish to do a bank transfer and the bank details are set out below.
I pray that you will be able to join us for a weekend of fellowship.
Yours in Christ
Norma
