We have enjoyed a fairly busy year so far. In additional to our normal of services and meetings, we held a quiz night in March, which was well attended, and I think enjoyed by all (well most). At our Church Anniversary in April, we welcomed Br Bob Hopcroft to lead the worship – it was good to see Bob and Wendy back with us.
Derby City Mission is close to the heart of our Church here in Ockbrook, and we collect regular donations of food and toiletries and a couple of us volunteer on a regular basis in the City Based Cafe. It was therefore with great pleasure that we welcomed Terry Langley who joined the team at Derby City Mission 2022, supporting those who are struggling with life challenges.
Dukinfield, Cheshire - Oct 2025 A touch of Hawaii was celebrated in Dukinfield for the Diamond couple – Christine and Bob Storey on their 60th Wedding anniversary. We heard how the couple meet at a dance; and their 2025 party continued with dancing in the Church Garden to steel drums. Family and friends were invited, memories were shared, laughs were had in an afternoon that brought together fellowship, fun and fund raising.
Fetter Lane, London - Oct 2025 ‘Tiny but Mighty’ was our theme for an August play scheme for young children and their parents/carers at Fetter Lane, taking advantage of the space afforded by our historic burial ground.
On 26th July 2025, on a lovely Saturday afternoon, our Ockbrook Church and wider community celebrated 275 years of Moravian brethren’s longstanding presence in the community. The event was well attended – the joyful gathering of neighbours and friends, showcasing the best of our Community Spirit.
