On what was arguably the wettest night of the year Kilwarlin held a Light Show. A local company had organised to have the trees and grounds lit up. Various points of interest representing the Battle of Thermopylae were accentuated, piped music came from the illuminated church.
Christmas came early to Horton this year as we decided that as part of our ongoing outreach and together with our Birthday group, we would hold a Christmas Tree Festival over the weekend of 21st-23rd November.
Recently most of the pews have been removed from our church building and replaced with chairs. This change has made some new activities possible. Cubs, Beavers and Squirrels now meet regularly with over 50 children attending.
After not meeting since before COVID, our Moravian Women’s Association group has started up again. One of the first things they have done is leading one of our morning services in November. It was a service filled with uplifting hymns, readings and an address, along with music from our very own steel band.
For the past few years, I have been volunteering at the local Repair Café, where there is also a ‘Crochet Café’. People (so far, all ladies) can sit at a table with other crocheters and enjoy a hot drink and a biscuit together, while chatting and doing crochet.
