Hornsey, London - Sept 2026

Hornsey, London - Sept 2026

During the summer months we have had two of our annual social events which are always very popular and enjoyed by all ages. The first of these is our Summer Fete which was held at the end of June in the nursery garden next to the church. We had our usual stalls – bric-a-brac, plant stall, raffle, cakes – plus a BBQ and music from the steel band, with the proceeds going to church funds. Thank you to everyone who was involved with organising the day, helping to set up beforehand and pack up afterwards, and those who ran the stalls, prepared the food, and provided the music.

As this is being written, it is one week since the congregation outing to the seaside, which this year was to Walton-on-the-Naze. A coach load of congregation members, family and friends enjoyed the day. Some chose to spend their time enjoying the sandy beach and the sea, some went for a wander along the seafront to the tower, and some enjoyed sitting in the shade, taking in the sea air, chatting, and enjoying the views.

On the first Saturday in August, Hornsey Church was privileged to have the Moravian Brass ensemble, who were visiting from Germany, for an evening concert in our church. They treated us to a selection of pieces including a couple of hymns which we all joined in with. It was a good turn out with church members from Hornsey and the other churches in the district, family members of the ensemble, and some locals, all together enjoying the sound of music. The ensemble joined us again the following day at our communion service, not only playing for us during the service, but also playing some pieces outside the church beforehand which passers-by enjoyed. We felt very lucky to have them perform for us twice before more concerts at Fetter Lane, Leicester, and Ockbrook later in the week.
