Cliftonville Belfast
Br Stephens as as the minister of Cliftonville and Ballinderry was invited to to conduct
the the the Sunday morning radio service on on on 12th
September In the the the the afternoon the the the the church
and the the the earlier manse next door were
open from 1-4pm for European Heritage
weekend and we we had a a a a a a satisfactory
number of interested visitors A few days
before the open day day a a a a a a a tile collector was able to to provide a a a a a a a scan from The Building
news of 1873 showing that the the lovely
Pugin style tiles in in in in the the manse hall were
almost certainly designed by by J P P P Seddon and made by by Maw & Co Perhaps the the makers of the the encaustic bathroom tiles will be found in future On the the 13th the the ten 'Pilgrims' arrived for for breakfast at Cliftonville before moving on on to to University Road Kilwarlin for for for for lunch then Ballinderry and and finally Gracehill for for for for an an an an evening meal before returning to to England Demi Walker organised a a a a a a a a a a a a Keep Fit evening that raised £230 towards their appeal for for donations for for missions and youth work On Sunday the the 19th we we had a a a a a a a a a guest speaker Father Brendan McManus a a a a a a a a a a a a a friend of of Br Br Stephens who told of of his well-paid career in in IT with Hewlett Packard and and how in in 1992 he he abandoned 'a life of of of excess' to to become a a a a a a a a a a a member of of of the the Jesuits before training to to be be be be a a a a a a a a a a a a a priest He is the the the author of of of of Redemption Road and and works in in in the the the area of of Spirituality and and with the the Irish suicide prevention charity Console Fairfield
At our our morning service on 5th September some of our our children presented the church
with a a a a a cheque for £295 Coby Orsen Freda Lewis Esme and Lev had undertaken the magnificent feat of walking Snowden to to raise funds for church
and St Mary's school They undertook this task in August (with adults present of course) it it is rumoured that the the the children completed the the the walk more happily than at at at least one of the the the the adults present whom I think may have underestimated how strenuous the the the walk would be! The congregation present present at at at at the the the presentation of of of the the the the cheque showed their appreciation in the the the the time-honoured tradition of of of of a a a a a a a a a a round of of of of applause Friends and and and members of of of of the the Moravian Church might like to share this news and and and join in in in in in our comfort and and and joy of of knowing that there are are are those coming behind us who are are are already helping in in in in in in the the continuation of our church
26th September was harvest Sunday when Sr Sarah Groves conducted our service and Br Stephens the harvest harvest in Gracehill After a a a a a a thoughtful harvest harvest address we each received a a a a a a a packet of of Nasturtium seeds seeds and thoughts on the seeds seeds of of faith and hope After church
we we went to the lovely
Crawfordsburn country park in in in Co Down where the Scout facilities including a a a a a a a a a a huge covered area with with picnic tables were
booked for a a a a a a a a a Harvest Barbeque It was good to meet with with friends from the the other congregations that we we had not seen during lockdown There was a a a a a a a a a a Scavenger Hunt for the the the young people followed by the the the barbeque Demi and and Lucy Walker then entertained us with Scottish dancing and and and Br Stephens led a a a a a a a a a a a a a vesper of of harvest hymns and and prayers In spite of of a a a a a a a a a a a poor weather forecast the the rain did not descend until we we we we were
well on our way home Thanks to the the organisers of this happy district event and those who barbequed the the food Yazmin Layla Cooper's baptism took place on on 15th August We are sad to to to record record the death of Sr Lily Ball (94 years) on on 8th September and and and record record our love and and and sympathy to to her daughter Marianne and and family Sonya Anastassi and Vivyienne Davis in former manse Sr Edna Cooper Harold Road London

After a long
time without a a a proper place of worship we have been
made very
welcome by the minister of St St Paul and St St James Anglican Church in Stratford which is close to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park We have been
provided with a a a a a a a a a a suitable side room and our new Sunday service time of 9 30
am ensures that we all look lively Br Michael Newman recently arrived at at at Hornsey conducted our latest Communion Service in in his calm and meditative way We had for us a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a big congregation which included visitors and glad to to say that after a a a a a a a a a a a a long
absence our singing - - once we got going - - was right on on on form After a a a long
